In SF, the bakery products from the Tartine Bakery have long been legendary, and the bread is usually sold out shortly after the shop opens. But it is worth getting up early, even on a Sunday. Of course, you could save yourself the wait and buy one of the breads at the kiosk, but then you’d miss the sensational brunch delicacies from the Tartine Manufacture: mozzarella-pepperoni biscuits, blueberry-pecan nut groats, butternut pumpkin flakes or sandwiches with Californian crab. And then there’s “Country”, an insanely good wheat sourdough bread, the classic and at the same time the most popular bread of Tartine Bakery. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Tartine owner Chad Robertson travelled for years and learned from the best bakers in the United States and France how to bake the bread he wanted to pull out of the oven. Well done!
